Teresa has been a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) for more than 30 years. Teresa’s curious mind encouraged her to find and treat her own problems through a method of controlled nutrition protocols and evidence-based medicine. Her goal is to empower individuals with the knowledge to follow nutrition therapy to help control their disease and positively impact their quality of life.
Teresa is an Advanced Practice Registered Dietitian with training as a specialist in renal nutrition, nutrition support, mitochondrial health, ketogenic approach, and identifying adverse food reactions with an emphasis on food sensitivities as part of Integrative and Functional Nutrition. Teresa has benefited from formal training with The Charlie Foundation. She works as a preceptor, and mentor and collaborates with other medical professionals to reach optimal outcomes.
Teresa coaches patients and families through the safe and effective use of nutrition therapies and protocols for metabolic diseases, auto-immune diseases, critical care, neurological disorders, mental health, gastrointestinal disorders, and environmental toxicity that requires careful monitoring and laboratory analysis. Teresa’s professional and multicultural experience helps her share knowledge with more individuals with mitochondrial disorders that are the result of genetic mutation, which can be either inherent or caused by environmental aggressors. Inherited mutations are generally more widespread, and impact multiple organ systems. Symptoms can include muscle weakness, diabetes, hearing, and vision loss (like in my personal case), kidney failure, heart disorder, and dementia. Mutations caused by the environment are generally confined to specific organ regions and build up over time, leading to certain forms of cancer and an increased risk of age-related disorders, such as heart disease, Alzheimer’s disorder, and Parkinson’s disorder.
Curious Mind RD is a nutrition therapy counseling via virtual practice focusing especially on the various types of ketogenic nutrition therapies that will allow you to get into ketosis including classic ketogenic, modified ketogenic, medium-chain triglycerides (MCT) oil, modified Atkins, low glycemic index therapy and intermittent fasting approach. These nutrition therapies would also include nutrition therapy for adult individuals in need of a tube-feeding formulation.
Teresa created Therapeutic Carbohydrate Restriction pH-balanced KDT and low carbohydrate diet therapies for patients with kidney and metabolic diseases.
